How monotheism destroyed the world

Ever since the rise of Jewish monotheism and its emulation by Christians and Muslims, the world has been mired in violence and destruction. The followers of monotheistic "religions" (better to call them as cults and marketing phenomenon) brought competition in the world. If you think deep enough, you will realize that competition is inherently anti-human activity. The reason for this is that humans are by nature social creatures and they seek company of other humans. The intensely selfish spirit of competition  fosters hate and jealously rather than cooperation and peace.

Starting from Arabs who realized pretty soon that if they continued to practice polytheism they will lose compared to their neighbors Christians and Jews, polytheistic and animistic cultures all over the world have continued to move towards monotheism or atheism. Resulting competition has brought misery and violence in the world.

Guru

The word guru has a special significance in the Indian culture. Other day I was having lunch in a restaurant and a Mexican waiter asked me, "How do you say teacher in your language ?" My friend said, "Master." I said, "Guru." He went happily back in the kitchen. And I fell back in a reverie.

Master is there to exploit his workers. Guru is there to show the path to enlightenment to his pupils. In other words a guru is someone who has a fiduciary duty to put the interest of his pupil before himself. Kabir went so far as to say, "Between guru and god he chose guru's feet, because it is the guru who showed the path to god (enlightenment)."

That is why finding a guru is fraught with serendipity. It is by sheer luck or hard effort that one finds a guru that is worth having in one's life. A lot of charlatans will come forward after knowing how much hold on your mind they can have as your guru. But you need to have lot of experience to separate wheat from the chaff in real life.

Sadomasochistic cultures

I have come to the conclusion that some cultures and religions are sadomasochistic. Usually these cultures and countries are associated with despotic rulers and governments. For example, most of eastern Europe and Russia falls under this category. The same is true with China and Islamic countries and the religion of Islam.

I came to the above conclusion based on my interactions with eastern Europeans and Russians and also from my interacting with Pakistanis and Arabians. In these places it is always the might that determines what is right. Spirituality is associated by these people with a despotic monotheistic God. The culture of oppressing weak is pervasive in these places. The rule of democracy is laughed upon.

What do you think ? Do your observations match with mine ? Or you think differently, please share.

je suis charlie

The attacks in France by extremists have again brought the problem that the extremist religions pose to the world. I still believe that the third world war will address the remaining unsolved problem in the world: extremist religions. So far the attitude the world democratic governments have taken with reference to these extremists can be summarized in the following words: "It is there religion." And how dare we say anything wrong about someone's religion.

The fact of the matter is that these religions have to be objectively understood. At the end of the day all organized religions and even the ones that are tradition based, are mind control systems. Many if not all of the desert religion have openly espoused the "US" vs "THEM" mentality. The third world war will solve this unresolved problem of religions of the middle ages teaching things to their followers which are basically incongruous in the modern world.

Let us hope that the victorious will be the voice of the reason and Liberté, égalité, fraternité. And then civilized humans will move to the real struggle: the role of a socially sensitive and responsible human being, and not the "consumer-is-king" brand individual.
